Colourful steerer of Dodona at Braunston Historic Narrowboat Rally 2010
Often the brightest, most colourful things on narrowboats are traditionally painted canalware on their cabin tops. I posted a photo of such a scene a couple of days ago.
On Dodona the most dazzling thing was the steerer.
As always, the A. M. Models website is good for information about old working boats such as this (click on GUCC Butties in the list on the left-hand side). Dodona was built as a butty in 1935 but was evidently cut in two in the 1960s, making two boats: the bow of the current Dodona being the stern of the original.

I agree about the steerer...very colourful! I wonder why they cut the boat in two? Seems a strange thing to do!
