Nine week cruise - day 62 - Thursday 1st September 2005
Braunston to Stoke Bruerne
Under way at 0800 and went up the remaining four Braunston locks with "Willow", and went through the tunnel. At 0950 we stopped for breakfast and water at Norton Junction, just above Buckby Locks. Going down the locks we paired up with a boat (sorry, name not recorded) whose crew told us that they'd had no success at all with their Sea Searcher magnet. It didn't take long to work out what the problem was. Try removing the keeper first. "What's a keeper?" It's that piece of steel which keeps the magnet strong and healthy when you're not actually using it. "Oh, we've never taken that off." We laughed for a long time afterwards!
At 1400 we stopped to do some shopping in Weedon Bec, and stopped again at Bridge 32 Supplies for gas.
We moored at 1900 at Stoke Bruerne, between Blisworth Tunnel and the locks.
