On the Walsall canal, between Ocker hill and the Ryders Green Locks is Hempole Bridge.
This is unusual in having a date cast in an iron plate - and doubly unusual in that the date is in Roman numerals.
MDCCCXXV is 1825.
My 2003 (or MMIII) Nicholson's (Guide 2) calls this bridge Hempole Lane Bridge.
