Easter Cruise day 5, 5th April 2013, Barton-under-Needwood
I don't know why, but it brings a perverse kind of pleasure when one overtakes a whole queue of traffic while cruising at three miles per hour on a boat.
This was the A38 at Barton-under-Needwood at half-past ten in the morning. This section of the Trent and Mersey north east of Wychnor is usually blighted by traffic noise. Not today.
I hate to think what rush hour is like.
Just after the canal starts diverging from the road is this lovely old accommodation bridge.
The towpath changes side here, so, presumably for cheapness, there is no towpath under the bridge.
