Burton-upon-Trent, where trees grow through fences

Easter Cruise day 5, 5th April 2013

On, then, to Burton-upon-Trent. Here the Bond End Canal used to go further into the town to serve the many breweries. Now it's just a stub, used now by Shobnall Marina.

On the opposite side is the Marston's Brewery, next to which is this fence where, presumably, it was just too much effort to pull the remaining bits of tree out.

While we went through Dallow Lane Lock, the last narrow lock we'd encounter for a long time, we watched a family on a dayboat try to find a bit of canal slightly wider than all the other bits in order to wind.

They eventually managed it here.
