Other bloggers, including Jim of
Starcross, have written about model narrowboat
Eagle, which was shown off to huge admiration at Braunston recently - so I won't say much, but share my photos. (Incidentally, Jim's blog comes top of a search engine list for "model narrowboat eagle".)
Not only is there smoke coming from the stove and exhaust, but there is also the sound of a Bolinder engine's irregular beat. This engine noise changes according to speed, getting faster and slower just like the real thing. Look, no hands!
I found it difficult getting a sense of scale with the boat on the water. Jim managed it with his photo of children looking down on it tucked up against the bank.
Just stunning!
Later in the weekend I snatched a couple of photos as
Eagle was being put away. And it's not simply a case of picking it up and putting it into the boot of your car.
No, the hull is in two halves which go onto a trailer. The superstructure is dealt with separately.
It was a joy to watch - well done guys.
