Clips in Crick Tunnel - what are they?

On the walls (wall?) of Crick Tunnel (and, possibly, in other tunnels as well, but I noticed them in Crick) are several metal clips screwed to the brickwork.

I assume they are something to do with maintenance, but they seem to be at strange, random, angles.

Anyone know what they are?

There used to be arrows made out of three tubes of self fluorescent stuff in a glass fronted case mounted in all these tunnels, but they've mostly been nicked.

I wonder if these are the clips that held them to the wall?

Cheers

Bruce

Thanks Bruce, yes, that sounds likely. There's a bit of green in the clip in the fourth photo.

These are tell-tales, they get fixed across a crack, if the crack shifts, the glass breaks and it is known that the crack is moving.

Anonymous, they appear to be just metal, no glass - neither do they look as though they're fixed across cracks. Unless that bit of green in the fourth photo is the glass telltale and all the others have broken ...
