Breaking wash

A certain Large Northwich approaching a few weeks ago highlighted the shallowness of the Ashby Canal.

A breaking wash is something boaters should try to avoid as it breaks down the banks and pulls more silt into the channel, making it even shallower. However, I do understand that, sometimes, a shallow section can catch one unawares.

18 seconds later, when the photo above was taken, Whitby had evidently slowed down.

I do like passing former working boats.
