Proud grandparents

Early this morning our daughter Ally gave birth to a son, Josiah, weighing 6lb 14oz (or 3.13kg if you prefer). We drove over to MK to have a look for ourselves ... and here he is at just ten minutes old!

No, we didn't get there that quickly - Ben sent us the photo. Here are a couple I took this afternoon with the very proud parents Ally and Ben.

Josiah is our first grandchild, making us proud grandparents (and making me feel quite old!)

I like the canal connection. Josiah Wedgwood was one of the instigators of the Trent and Mersey Canal, which opened in 1777 and greatly benefited his pottery business. (The "original" Josiah was a king of Judah, acceding the throne at the age of eight. "He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed completely the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left." (2 Kings 22:2))

Congratulations fron us both. Being a grandparent is wonderful - so much nicer than being a parent.

Thank you all for your congratulatory comments.

Sue, I can't see us ever going down your wide beam route (best wishes with your boat search).

Kath, don't let your children see that!

Tom/Jan, OK, I don't feel as old as you!

Nev, I shall be "Grandad"; Jan is "Granny".

Sue is right you need a bigger boat because this is just the beginning. To save new boat money go for a basement extension.

Fair enough. By the way, I'm glad I do not have to switch on the word verification any more because I could never see what had to be done. It's great just having to tick 'I'm not a robot'. H.S.
