In a lock chamber and decending by the look of it... LOL
Yes, in a lock chamber, but can you guess where? I'm hoping the date might give a clue. (I was actually ascending.)
Well at least I got it 50% right LOL
FOXTON LOCKS 1810-12, restored 1909. Brick with some stone. . . . . Each chamber is brick lined and has an
inset brick dated 1909. Grand Union Canal, engineered by Benjamin Bevan,
completed in 1814.

Spot on, Eeyore. I was hoping that the date would be sufficient for someone to link that with the short-lived Foxton Inclined Plane and the re-opening of the locks it was built to replace.
