Possible boating next week - but is it icy?

We have an extra week on Shadow coming up in a few days, but the forecast is for night-time temperatures below freezing, and daytime temps not much above. The big question is: Will the cut be frozen? (Grand Union in Warwickshire) If the boat is iced in there won't really be much point going. Hmmm.

It's really freezing on this side of the channel, Halfie. Been exceptionally cold this year in the Netherlands. Normally we are in Rotterdam, but last year I bought an old dyke house in the south to fix up, and this Christmas the whole family came down. Still it's back to Rotters on Monday and we have a week on the slipway with my partner's barge. Brrrrrrr that's going to be icy cold! Hope you aren't frozen in too solidly!

We're still having discussions here about our plans. There's a daughter getting stressed about a dissertation she has to do for university, and a wife who also has university work to do, and who needs a break after all the cooking and entertaining over the last few days. And we don't yet have a means of getting the internet, which they need for their work, on the boat. We might leave it a day and go on Monday, or I might go with our daughter's fiance for a couple of days. I hope this gets resolved soon!

Sounds as if your family profile is rather similar to mine ;-) Good luck with the plans! I hope the weather is kind for once.
