Having seen how much fun I was having in early retirement, Jan has decided that she would join me. Today was her last day at work at the independent school where she's been teaching for the last 15 years.
Four of her colleagues were also leaving at the same time.
left to right: Kim, Judith, Jan, Jan, Jo (my Jan is seated)
The catering manager baked a cake for them.
So now Jan is as free as I am; we intend to be on Jubilee for a decent length of time for the rest of the summer. I remember when we met Del and Al on Derwent6 on the Leicester Section a few years ago being envious of them in their early retirement. Now we are in the same boat, so to speak, although we are not planning to be continuous cruisers.
We will have to see what happens. In the meantime Jan and I are going to have to adjust to having each other around a lot more!

My word we had some weather during the night but things had greatly
improved before we were read to leave this morning, we heard a boat go by
about 8am. ...

Well done Jan. I bet you'll soon wonder how you found the time to go to work! Now you can enjoy your summer without thinking about September all the time. Have a great time.
