Time to go boating. (Big decision made.)
Yes, time to go boating. And time for gardening. And time for house tidying. And time for lots of other things.
The big decision? I have applied for voluntary redundancy; my application has been successful. This means that I am to retire early from work, but it's not for a few months yet. All those years of shift work, never knowing more than a few weeks (and often only a few days) in advance what hours I'm to be working, rarely being able to plan weekends - all that is to come to an end next year.
After signing the piece of paper terminating my contract - that seemed so final - I had my moments of doubt, but it's feeling more and more like the right thing to do. Yes, my pension will take a bit of a hit, but I will have more time to enjoy it.
We'll not be sailing off into the sunset just yet, though, as Jan has, potentially, several more years of work left. But, as I indicated, I'm not exactly going to be twiddling my thumbs. Besides which, Jubilee is spoken for for up to two years.
So we'll see what will happen.
