Granny Buttons that we're looking for a canalside place for a few days' R 'n' R at the end of this month. If we had 100% ownership of our boat that would be no problem, but someone else has it then. So we'd like to find a canalside place, preferably self-catering but possibly a B&B, ideally in the Birmingham area (for proximity to our daughter) or the Sheffield area (ditto our son).
A view like this would be just perfect!
The search continues.Update: we've found a cottage near Bakewell. OK, not exactly canalside, but in great walking country (and somewhat nearer Sheffield than Norbury Junction!).

Halfie,
How about this at Norbury Junction - not too far from Brum (by car or train):

It does look lovely doesn't it? Hope you find the right spot soon. I need a holiday too....really badly!
judging from the picture, you want a holiday in Dudley? ;-)
Jim, thanks, we'll investigate.
VallyP, well, I think it looks lovely!
Simon, and what's wrong with Dudley? Didn't I read somewhere that the BCLM is soon going to be running a hotel on the museum site? If that's the case, I hope it will be to nineteenth century standards - gas lighting, chamber pots etc.!
nowt wrong with Dudley, I just recall that the road bridge I think that picture must have been taken from was a bit busy to pitch a tent on for a few days... ;-)
In fact if the BCM had some kind of period B&B, especially in the pub, it would be fantastic... ;-)
