Did I mention that it was warm at Braunston last Sunday? The heat might just have gone to the head of one of the stewards marshalling the historic boats as they paraded down to the turn and back. The steward in question shouted an exhortation to Sarah, steering Chertsey, to "take it easy". Sarah was not best pleased at this extra encouragement to go slowly, as if the logjam of boats were not sufficient to enforce the slowest possible pace.
To cause the boat to face the opposite direction by means of forward and reverse gears (is it still called that in the (car) driving test?) one steers left at Braunston Turn (towards Oxford) ...
... then goes astern (towards Coventry) ...
... before proceeding in an easterly direction (towards London).
One person coped with the heat in a relaxed way.
