Millstone wall, Aston

16th September 2013

As we descended the Aston lock flight David pointed out an unusual wall.

When I've been along here before I've only seen the writing in the brickwork, but the wall is built on a foundation of old millstones.

    Those millstones look amazing - scary to think how many mills must have closed to make it worthwhile though....
